TEST SAMPLES OF PAINT IN ECUADOR CONTAIN HIGH LEVELS OF LED
The University of Cincinnati conducted testing on enamel paints in Ecuador. There is no worldwide standard set at this time despite efforts of a number of countries to reduce the amount of led in paints. It is believed that exposure to led in children can lead to brain damage and other ills. The current standard in the United States was just reduced to 90 ppm from 600 ppm. The testing from Ecuador revealed in the sampling was nearly 32000 ppm.
This is something to keep in mind not only if you are going to live in Ecuador but, also consider the huge industry in crafts are of which many are painted and sold for the tourist market. .
