FRENCH SCIENTIST MURDERED IN QUITO
On Saturday, French citizen Charlotte Mazoyer, age 26, was murdered by gunfire near her home in Quito. She was employed at the Institute of Development Research. There have been some questions as to whether or not she received timely care form the clinic she was attended at. Police are continuing an investigation. She was due to return to France at the end of the month.

Further reports have stated Ms. Mazoyer was shot in the chest in Guápulo This is one of the better neighborhoods in Quito and very close to the Hotel Quito. Reports state that it took nearly 40 minutes after the shooting for an ambulance to arrive. There are other allegations that she did not receive prompt attention at the Clinica Pichincha, when she arrived, still alive. The hospital denies that accusation per reports in El Comercio, and stated they did treat her.
