FIRES CONTINUE IN THE QUITO AREA

Over the past two weeks fires have continued to plague the Quito area.

• Llano Grande
• Zambiza,
• Pintag,
• Calderon
• Parque Metropolitano,
• El Panecillo,
• Nayon,
• El Pasochoa

Firefighters have been having to fight many of the blazes by hand and with limited equipment due to the in accessibility of fire trucks to the mountainous areas. Several of the fires above are still not under control. It has been very dry in Quito with little rain. Chance of rain is forecasted for this evening in Quito. However, as of 1:22 pm, satellite imagery shows limited cloud cover and no indication of rains in Ecuador at the current time. No doubt these fires affect the already poor air quality in and around Quito.
