VERBAL ALTERCATION ON AEROGAL FLIGHT HAS NO CONSEQUENCES

Last Thursday your editor was taking a flight from Quito to Guayaquil on Aerogal. On board prior to the flight a verbal altercation broke out among passengers that required airline staff to intervene. It seemed to be cleared up when staff had to again return in order to break up the argument between passengers. Finally the captain came back to observe the situation. The flight finally took off without any further disturbance. I asked the captain after the flight what went wrong and he stated that it was a small disagreement that the staff was able to calm down. I told him my concern is that it took two times for staff and himself to take care of the situation and that at least one of the passengers if not both should have been removed from the flight. What if the the altercation had continued at 20,000 feet above Ecuador? He had no comment.
