Two gangs apprehended in Quito
Police operations recently were responsible for detaining members of two different criminal gangs. The first gang was comprised of four Ecuadorians who were responsible for assaults and robberies. They focused on university areas as well as private businesses. They were apprehended with a weapon.
The second band of thieves included four members from Peru and one from Ecuador. They used a very common scheme where they would throw something under a vehicle, warn the driver that there was something wrong with the car, and rob him when he would get out to look at the vehicle.
Both groups were responsible for stealing laptops, cell phones, billfolds, jewelry, and cash.
