FIESTA DE JORA IN COTACACHI SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER
The hamlet of Cotacachi continues to make continued improvements in it's infrastructure to improve the city for tourists and of course the annual "Fiesta de Jora" celebration. This years festivities will be from September 17th through September 20th. Known as the music and leather capitol of Ecuador, this community has been busy manufacturing leather goods to accommodate the expected tourism and the upcoming Christmas season. There will be lots of music and celebrations along with the contest for the best "chicha de jora". This deep in tradition drink is a fermented beverage which is derived from maize. Most of the activities will be located around Artepiei Avenue. The city has done a major overhaul of many of the streets by widening the sidewalks. (TRAVEL SAFETY ECUADOR)
