NAPO AND SUCUMBIOS UNDER YELLOW ALERT - VOLCANO REVENTADOR
The provinces of Napo and Sucumbios are currently under yellow alert after an eruption of the volcano Reventador this past Saturday. Located 90 km northeast of Quito at 3,485 meters, residents of the area have gone to wearing masks due to ash. Previous explosions have caused havoc with pollution in much of the country and covered as far away as Quito in ash. Two of Ecuador's major oil pipelines are in the vicinity and are at risk of interruption in the event of a major eruption. (TRAVEL SAFETY ECUADOR)
